Five Nights at Freddy's 4 Nightmares (4k SFM)

What is it that you think you see? What game do you think you are playing?  


Well, it took 3 days, but it's finally done! (Anyone brighten up yesterday's unfinished teaser? )


I've been waiting to make a poster about FNAF4 until the Nightmare Chica model was created (for obvious reasons), so the instant I saw it was ready, I signed my life away to Typhoon Cinema on Youtube for it.

Originally, this was just going to have Nightmare Chica in it, but I figured, why not add Foxy and Bonnie, too.  The other Nightmare characters have not been modeled yet.

The map was created by with help from , so I wanted to feature that as well (even though you can't really see it, and I had to add the door)

I also had input from who helped with lighting technique and photo composition.  It's really great to be able to share WIP screenshots off of someone with more experience... having a second set of eyes to offer a fresh perspective helps most of all when I've been staring at the screen for countless hours.


I might have to upgrade my computer even more if I keep making renders like these, lol.  There are several particle systems to create the various smoke effects.   There are 24 lights (4 related to the flashlight, 10 related to Foxy, 4 related to Chica, and 6 related to Bonnie).  And the Nightmare models are so detailed and complicated, that when all is combined, makes for a laggy workspace.  And, this is my first time rendering in 4k instead of 1080p.  Figured something with this much effort would be worth the render time.

The poster was then brought into Adobe Lightroom for some minor tweaks, especially contrast.  But, I'm getting better at making SFM do what I want, rather than post-editing it.  Maybe one day, once I feel I've really got SFM down, I get and learn Photoshop to take things to another level.  But for now, I use paint.net for drawing some shadows and other minor touch ups here and there.


But this was so much fun to make.  It feels good to create some good ole dark FNAF art again; I really want to do more stuff like this.  The only reason my persona is in the picture is to give a better feel for how the new game works.  The door's edge purposely splits the picture in two to draw a comparison between the two Chica models.  It's interesting to see how detailed and terrifying the characters have gotten over 4 games.  And yet, there will never be something quite like the original Five Nights at Freddy's.
